Book Description:
The second book in the internationally bestselling fantasy series, Day Watch begins where Night Watch left off, set in a modern-day Moscow where the 1,000-year-old treaty between Light and Dark maintains its uneasy balance through careful vigilance from the Others. The forces of darkness keep an eye during the day, the Day Watch, while the agents of Light monitor the nighttime. Very senior Others called the Inquisitors are the impartial judges insisting on the essential compact. When a very potent artifact is stolen from them, the consequences are dire and drastic for all sides. Day Watch introduces the perspective of the Dark Ones, as it is told in part by a young witch who bolsters her evil power by leeching fear from children’s nightmares as a counselor at a girls’ summer camp. When she falls in love with a handsome young Light One, the balance is threatened and a death must be avenged.

Day Watch is replete with the thrilling action and intricate plotting of the first tale, fuelled by cunning, cruelty, violence, and magic. It is a fast paced, darkly humorous, haunting world that will take root in the shadows of your mind and live there forever.

Great Book by Pierce T. Wetter III
This is a pleasant, enjoyable read if your a fan of urban fantasy.

But what really sets it apart is the insight into Russia, given that the author is russian.

So its a fun read, but then it makes you wonder…

2nd in Series by THE man of Russian Sci-Fi by
Forget about Harry (underage) Potter. This series by Sergei Lukyanenko brings magic into the realm of actual adults with all of our foibles and is set in real-time gritty, urban Russia. If you love the genre–as well as good writing–read this series…

More addicting than energy drinks by Fraggle Lite
So I finally, after pining forever, bought this book. It’s told mainly from the perspective of the the Dark Others and it blew my mind.

1-the writing was amazing. The writing style didn’t take anything away from the story and the plot was addicting, even more so then the first.

2-the humor was very good. Actually the humor issue was the only thing I was a bit disappointed about in the first one, where it was rather dry. In DAYWATCH it came out more naturally and was easy to pick up on.

3-Returning characters were wonderful. Usually when you have a dramatic focus shift between books, returning characters seem weaker or annoying, more fluff than anything else. I SAY NAY NAY! I actually appreciate Anton’s character more than ever, even though he does seem a bit more Droopy when it comes to his love life.

I am now currently awaiting book 3 to arrive!

My favorite of the three Night Watch novels by M. Day
I felt Night Watch started strong, but the third story really dragged. The first story of Day Watch has an exciting, action-packed beginning, slows down in the middle, and then speeds up at the end - but that slow middle is pretty okay because the story is told from the perspective of Alisa, a Dark Other, so even when she’s lounging around “on vacation,” her internal monologue is a lot more interesting then, say, Anton’s in the third story of Night Watch when everyone’s just kind of chilling out at Tiger Cub’s vacation home… The second and third stories of Day Watch are the best two stories of the entire series and even though I prefer this over Night Watch, you should still read Night Watch first, not just for background, but because there are things in Day Watch that will spoil some of the climaxes in Night Watch. You can only go blind into something once.
